Crowdfunding
As if starting a business for the first time in my life at the age of 60 was not enough of a steep learning curve I am now about to embark on a crowd funding adventure.
First of all I will need to explain what crowdfunding is.
According to Crowdfunder – the leading reward crowd funding program in the UK – “Crowdfunder is an alternative means of funding that allows individuals to take their ideas forward and make them a reality with the power of the crowd.
“Crowdfunder enables people with a great idea to raise the money they need in return for 'rewards'. The public can back an idea with pledges of money and project owners can 'thank' their backers with rewards that reflect the money contributed. The reward can be a product, service or experience that is produced by the project.”
So, why do I want the crowd to invest?
Because I know what joy and delight comes to families when they share their life stories. Autodotbiography has proved that with lovely comments such as this from Liz Robertson: “I am so glad that my brothers and I had decided to get this for my dad. It is a wonderful thing for our family to have. The book is absolutely priceless and I know I will always treasure my copy. Thank you so much for making this happen for us!”
Most people have little, if any, memory of their early years and children especially love hearing the stories that go with family photographs of holiday trips, and special events, as well as photographs celebrating birthdays and festivals such as Christmas.
I want to launch a new version of autodotbiography so that parents can mark their children’s birthdays with a beautifully written and designed, illustrated book to be cherished for future generations, with all the anecdotes that go with their life story so far.
And I want to make another version that makes it easier for couples to use, so those who reach their silver, pearl, ruby, golden wedding anniversaries, can share their life together with their family in a fascinating and beautifully designed book.
But I don’t want to go anywhere near a bank and I have used up all my savings.
So, I need help and that’s why I am throwing myself into the crowd in the hope that they will want to support this venture.
My next task is to work out the rewards they get for supporting the campaign.
